Description[edit | edit source]
Wayne County was named for General Anthony Wayne, an American soldier, officer and statesman. The nickname "Mad Anthony", as well as a generalship, was bestowed on him due to his "military exploits and fiery personality" during the American Revolutionary War.[2] The county is located in the south-central area of the state.[3]
