Parish History

Deal St Andrew is an Ecclesiastical Parish formed in 1850 from Deal, Kent Ancient Parish and built on the old workhouse site in North Deal to the design of architect Ambrose Poynter.
"St. Andrew's was the third Anglican church to be built in the historic maritime coastal town of Deal, after the medieval St. Leonard's and the Georgian-era St. George's. It was built on the site of a former workhouse as a church for the boatmen, who largely resided in the poorer northern part of the town; and was officially dedicated in 1850."^[1]
The church was extended in 1867 and has been a church in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, including the Stations of the Cross which were added in 1867.
