DAVINGTON (St. Mary Magdalene), a parish, in the union and hundred of Faversham, Upper division of the lathe of Scray, E division of Kent, half a mile NW from Faversham.[1]
Davington St Mary Magdalene is an Ancient Parish in the Diocese of Canterbury; the church dates from 1123 and is the oldest existing building in Faversham.
The church was originally built as part of a Benedictine Priory for 26 nuns; parts of this building are adjacent to the church and are occupied as a private residential dwelling. [2]
The modern parish of St Mary Magdalene with St Lawrence serves part of Faversham. [3]
