History

Albert county was established in 1845 from parts of Westmorland county. Before 1845 it consisted of the parishes of Hopewell and Hillsborough, created in 1786; part of the parish of Salisbury, created in 1787; Coverdale, removed from Hillsborough in 1828; and Harvey, removed from Hopewell and a small part of Saint John County in 1838. Alma was removed from Harvey in 1855.
