Parish History

CAPEL-LE-FERNE (St. Mary), a parish, in the union of Dover, hundred of Folkestone, lathe of Shepway, E division of Kent, 3¼ miles NNE from Folkestone. [1]
The church is of Norman origins, but its present character dates from the late thirteenth/early fourteenth century.[2]
Capel-le Ferne was originally a chapelry of Alkham, Kent Ancient Parish.
The modern parish is served by St Radigund's church Capel-le-Ferne. Capel-le-Ferne St Mary is a redundant church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust since 1986.
