Background

Chinese Filipinos are one of the largest overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. There were a significant population of Chinese migrants between the 16th century and 1898. That is due to the relationship between Luzon and the Ming dynasty. The majority of Chinese in the Philippines belong to either the Hokkien or the Cantonese speaking groups. [1]
