Citizenship records (''registre cetațenie'') are lists of citizens or inhabitants of a given town or are lists of persons who are entitled to special rights, privileges and/or protection of the town or community. These records were kept in each town from about 1500 to 1900. They can be used to link generations, especially in towns and communities where the family has resided for several generations.
