I figured out that you could access the county charts in the Ancestry's Redbook in Google books in .pdf. It was much easier to read then trying to figure out the html version in www.ancestry.com.

Task Description[edit | edit source]

Add the "overview" table at the top and adapt it to each of the 29 Utah counties.

Purpose of the table: at a glance information and direction. We expect people to be helped more quickly by this table.

Many eyes have reviewed and accepted the table on the Experimental County page. It is finally ready to be added to each county.

Step-by-step[edit | edit source]

Step 1: Preparation[edit | edit source]

A. Sign up
  • Add your name to the sign up chart for the appropriate county, summarize your edit with the name of the county, and Save page
  • Click to that county
B. Open the Family History Library Catalog for that county
  • Open a new window (In Windows Explorer use Ctrl+N keys)
  • At FamilySearch.org, select Catalog and do a Place-names search for the county. This will display the topics for that county
Note: Opening a new window (rather than a new tab) allows you to switch between the Catalog and the county Wiki page by using the Alt+Tab keys in Windows Explorer

Step 2: Copy and paste the FHLC paragraph[edit | edit source]

A. Copy the FHLC paragraph below (NOT in WikiText)

B. Paste the FHLC paragraph to the county page

Now in WikiText, place the cursor under the topic and paste.

Step 3. Change the FHLC paragraph to the correct county and topic[edit | edit source]

Edit (in WikiText) this part of the FHLC paragraph:

Utah, Beaver - Cemeteries|subject|disp=records of cemeteries

A. Change "Beaver" to the county you are working on.
B. Change "Cemeteries" to match the FHLC topic exactly -- otherwise the link won't work
C. Change "records of cemeteries" to the topic.

  • Be sure to leave the space-dash-space between the county and subject name)
  • Be sure to leave the "pipe" after the subject name you changed (The pipe is above the backslash "\" on the keyboard)

Note: "disp" means "display". It's what the user will see.
FYI: the PAGENAME template automatically displays the county name.

Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 to the end[edit | edit source]

  • Go to the next subject for the county in the FHL Catalog
    • Remember Alt+Tab to switch between them
  • Repeat steps 2 and 3
  • Summarize your edit "FHLC links to [subjects]"
  • Save Page

Step 5: Update the sign up chart[edit | edit source]

  • Add the date you finished the FHLC links for this county and enter "Done" in Remarks (unless you have other remarks to add)
  • Give your edit summary "[county] finished" and Save page
