The county was named for Ellsworth Daggett. The county is located in the northeast area of the state. [1]

- 1870 Ranchers and pioneers begin to move to the area.
- 1918 Daggett County created by Utah Legislature. Named for Ellsworth Daggett, the first surveyor-general of Utah.
- 1957 Town of Dutch John constructed by U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to house workers working on construction of Flaming Gorge Dam.
