1. Check the Assignment Chart below to choose a county to edit.

2. Sign up on the Assignment Chart to accept the task. Sign-up instructions are posted with the Assignment Chart below.

Locate the Family History Center[edit | edit source]

3. For each county,

a. Locate the county seat for your chosen county.
b. Find the Family History Center closest to the county seat.
c. Add the Family History Center information to the Repository section of the county FamilySearch wiki page.
d. Add information to the county page by editing in wikitext. Read the general instructions then follow the wikitext link to continued task directions about using wikitext to edit this project.

4. To find the county seat zip code of your chosen county:

a. Go to Wikipedia by clicking on this link.
b. Click in the box under the world image (Has magnifying glass in the box).
c. Type (Your county name) County, Washington.
d. Hit enter on your keyboard.
f. Go to the county information box on the right-hand side of the screen.
g. Within the county information box search for the word "Seat". This is the county seat. Click on the city name.
h. On the Wikipedia city page, go to the city information box on the right-hand side of the screen.
i. Within the city information box search for the city zip code. If there is more than one zip code, chose any of the the posted zip codes.

5. To find the Family History Center closest to your county seat:

a. Go to FamilySearch Centersand type in the zip code for your county seat in the box which says "Postal Code".
b. Hit enter on your keyboard.
c. If more than one result is shown, click on your city name in the left-hand column.
d. On the map which appears, your county seat is the orange flag with the white star in the center.
e. Family History Centers in the area indicated by flags with blue trees in the center.
f. If there are no blue trees zoom out on the map until you see some trees. Zoom out by clicking on the minus (-) sign in the upper right-hand corner of the web page.

4. Type 4 tildes (~). This symbol is located on the upper left-hand part of your keyboard, next to the number 1. The ~~~~ is an electronic signature and will leave your user name and date when you signed.
5. Scroll nearly to the bottom of the page. Add a summary sentence in the Summary box saying something like, "Selected Adams County for adding Family History Center".
6. Click on the box "Save Page".
