Chapelry History
WALMERSLEY, [Christ Church] a township with a district chapel, in the parish and union of Bury, hundred of Salford, S. division of Lancashire, 2¼ miles north by east of Bury; part of the ecclesiastical parish of Shuttleworth. Whittle Pike is in the township. Other places in the parish include: Summerseat. The district church dedicated to Christ, was built in 1837. In the township are places of worship for Independents and Wesleyans.—See also Shuttleworth.[1]
