Town Information[edit | edit source]
Description[edit | edit source]
Rutland City, Vermont at Wikipedia
The Original Town of Rutland was chartered in 1761 and was later divided into the Town of Proctor, the Town of West Rutland and the City of Rutland. At the same time Proctor and West Rutland were created, the village of Rutland was incorporated to give it partly independent status. Six years later, it was made a wholly independent city and Rutland City was incorporated as Vermont's third city on November 18, 1892.
Today the City of Rutland is a shire town and the county seat of Rutland County. [1]

Town Reports[edit | edit source]
The town of Rutland kept annual town reports. These reports often contained birth, marriage, and death information. For this particular town, Rutland recorded many delayed vital statistics in their town reports. This means that although your ancestor may have been born in a certain year, that event may not have been recorded until several years later. The table below lists the available years with statistic info along with all the reports that record that year.
