HOOLE (St Michael), a parish, in the union of Preston, hundred of Leyland, N. division of Lancashire, 7 miles southwest by west of Preston. St Michael's church was built of brick in 1628 and a stone tower was added when it was rebuilt in 1720. This place, which was separated from Croston, Lancashire by act of parliament in 1642, and made a distinct parish. The whole of Little Hoole, which is on the southern bank of the Ribble, adjoins the parish of Penwortham. The church was built in 1628. Other places in the parish include: Much Hoole and Little Hoole. There are, a Methodist place of worship, built in 1824, and a Primitive Methodist built in 1828.[1]
Much Hoole is a village and civil parish in the borough of South Ribble, Lancashire, England. Much Hoole lies eight miles south west of Preston on the road from Preston to Ormskirk and Liverpool, the A59 and covers 1701 acres of flat low lying land. The soil is loam, peat moss and marsh. To the west of the village is the River Douglas which leads to the Ribble Estuary
