Court Records [Tingsbøkur]
Court records are proceedings of hearings involving breaches of the law, including property dispute, assaults, theft, adultery, fornication, murder, etc. The earliest records begin in 1614.
Generally these records contain the date of the court session, names, ages, occupations, residences, of plaintiffs, defendants, and witnesses.
Records are in the possession of the Faeroe Islands National Archives (Føroya Landsskjalasavn) in Tórshavn.
