Instructions
Part 1: Task List and Talk Page
- 1. Choose a Task List above to work on.
- Put your name in the Contributor Name column(s) of the Task List. You can choose how many parishes you want to work on during each work period. This way multiple people can work on the same county at the same time.
- 3. Click on the Talk tab at the top left of the page, then click on "edit source" for the header named "New Parish Table"
- **For every Wiki page - in this case, Acton, Cheshire Genealogy - there is an associated talk page that is used by contributors to discuss improvements about the Wiki page. In this project, we are using the Talk page as a sandbox to add content to the parish table before we move the completed table back to the Wiki page.**
- 5. Go to Parish Registers Online and click on your county located on the left side of the page. Scroll down to find your parish, which is on the right side of the page.
- 6. Go back to the code and change the years in the code according to what is found on the website.
- 7. Choose the Show preview button to check your work before you save your changes.
- 8. In the summary tab type, Changing TGEN years and press save changes.
If Parish is Not Found in List
Option 1: If the parish is missing baptisms, marriages, or burials then put a <br> on the line instead of the brackets.
- For example:
- The parish of Bedford St Mary only has marriages 1802-1802 (there are no baptisms or burials). This is what the code will look like:
|- | bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''TGEN''' | bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br> | bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br> | bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://www.thegenealogist.com/parish-records/ '''1802-1802'''] | bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br> | bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br> | bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
Option 2: If the parish is not found at all in the list, delete it from the table. There are 2 places to delete in the table:
NOTE: If you are unsure what to delete, put a note in the comments column of the spreadsheet and we will delete it for you.
