More than 100 years ago:
- Case files are able to be accessed in their entirety if they are over 100 years old.
Under 100 years ago:
- The only document publicly accessible is the Decree of Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce Decree), providing such document does not contain information such as parenting agreements or financial agreements.
- For case files, the requestor must be a party or the legal representation in the case. The requestor must prove their connection with the case by providing a valid, government issued photo ID. [1]

- The clerk of the District Court in the county where the decree was granted. Contact by District or by County
- The Colorado Judicial Branch:

- For case number, try the CSA Archives Search Database (see Online Resources above) or contact the county court in which it was tried.[2]

- Divorces are court records and there is high compliance.
- Many couples separated leaving no divorce record.

- Colorado divorce records have been kept since about 1861, when the first Colorado county was organized.
- Early divorce proceedings are in the district court of each county.

- Divorces can be difficult to locate. The divorce may have occurred in another county. Try all the residences of both the husband and wife.
- Newspapers often printed information about separations and divorces in the area to help you determine if a divorce exists.
- Many couples separated leaving no divorce record.
