Parent Towns[edit | edit source]
Part of Barretstown Plantation (later became Hope) was set off to Appleton Plantation (now Knox Co.) prior to 1800. It was also known as Appleton Ridge Plantation, also known as Sunnebec. It was incorporated as the Town of Appleton in 1829. Appleton annexed part of Hope in 1843.[1]

Boundary Changes[edit | edit source]
County boundary changes: Lincoln County set off this land to Waldo County in 1827, and Waldo set off this land to Knox County in 1860.[1]
