Adding Links to HR Articles Part B

Purpose

  • Replacing some links in the infoboxes located on Historical Records collections Wiki pages.

Instructions

  • Note: All historical Records articles are protected to keep users from editing them. If you would like to do this project, message Danielle in Yammer and she will give you the appropriate rights to edit these pages.

Part A -

Step One - Sign Up

  • Go to the task list and sign your name next to a Historical Records Wiki page.



  • Click on the link and it will bring you to a search results page. The Wiki article should be first on the list. Click on this link.



Step Two - Click on Edit Source

  • At the top of the Historical Records Collections detail Wiki page, click on Edit Source.



Step Four - Find Correct Line

  • Copy the wikitext below and use ctrl + F to locate the correct line.

Step - Go to Another Wiki Page



  • Locate the country for the Wiki page you are working on. For example, if the Wiki page is: Albania Census, 1930 - FamilySearch Historical Records, do a ctrl + F for Albania. It will eventually take you down to Albania that lists the template code.



Step - Copy the Wikitext

  • Copy the code starting with FS_URL_1 to the FS_URL line that has a link. For example, copy the following wikitext code from the American Samoa template from line 1 to 5:

Step - Paste on the HR Coll. Wiki Page

  • Go back to the Historical Records Collection details page on the other tab and locate the same section you just copied.


  • Put the curser above the other FS_URL_ links and paste the links you just copied from the User:SvareJM/Sandbox/Infoboxes Wiki page.

Step Five - Cut Out Old Links

  • Remove the old links currently in the template, no matter how many there are or what they link to. Leave in the coding for other links if they are blank.



Step Six - Change the Wikitext

  • Replace COUNTRY with the name of the country that relates to the Wiki page. (There should be an Online Learning page for all the countries listed on the Task List)



For example: [[United States Online Learning]]

Step Seven - Preview the Page

  • Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.


  • Enter in the following in the summary:
Added Online Learning link - project


  • Click Save Changes.


Step Eight - Go back to the Task List

  • Go to the Task List and add the date next to your name.


  • Sign up for a new historical records collection page to work on: Task List.
