Project Instructions for US State Cemeteries Pages[edit | edit source]

Step 1: Go to the task list choose a state from the United States tab. Put your name under 'completed by' to claim it.
Step 2: Create a sandbox page.
Step 3: Copy and paste the following code into the sandbox page for your state.

Step 4: Replace STATE NAME with the name of your state.
Step 5: Check the existing state cemetery page for resources to move to your sandbox page. Please check the resources on the page for quality before moving them to the sandbox.
Step 6: Locate resources using the instructions for each heading below.
Step 7: Display names for collections should be as they are named. Coverage years do not need to be in bold or at the beginning of the collection. Many cemetery collections do not have coverage years.
Step 8: Delete any headings you have no resources for.
Step 9: Save in sandbox.
Step 10: When completed, put the date in the 'date completed' column and link to the sandbox page in the 'link to sandbox column'.

General Instructions for Searching[edit | edit source]

Only include state and national resources. Cemeteries from smaller jurisdictions (county or municipal) should be included on their respective county pages, unless they are Jewish or military cemeteries.

Instructions for List of Cemeteries in the State[edit | edit source]

  • Keep the links to Find A Grave and BillionGraves at the top of the list.
  • Go to Find A Grave.
  • Enter your state's name in the search box to get a list of cemeteries in the state.
  • Copy the URL for that page.
  • Replace https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery in the table with the link to the page you just copied.

LDS Badge Instructions

  • Keep the LDS badge only if the terms LDS or Mormon are used in the names of your links.
  • You can remove the LDS badge by searching for and deleting the code below.

Instructions for Military Cemeteries[edit | edit source]

  • Organize all resources you find under the state or national headings, where appropriate.
  • Go to Veterans Cemeteries.
  • Click on your state.
  • Copy the URL.
  • Include the URL in the table under "National Cemeteries"
  • Use Google search with the state name followed by military cemeteries to find them.
