FRIDAY, JUNE 23 - JOIN US FOR IRISH RESEARCH ONLINE - Instructor, Janice Sellers APG - Once upon a time, searching for Irish ancestors required learning the townland of origin, or at least the county, before you could even consider crossing the Atlantic. While that is still helpful, it is now often possible to find a family without that information by using the wealth of records that have gone online in the last couple of years. The Oakland California FamilySearch Library is one of the largest and most accessible centers for genealogical research in California. Besides providing free access to numerous subscription websites included but not limited to ancestry.com, Fold 3, Genealogy Bank, and vitalsearch-worldwide.org, we also have over 9,000 volumes of books, periodicals, family histories, city and county histories, city directories, plus over 37,000 reels of microfilm and 9,000 microfiche containing millions of local vital records and historical census data from all over the world.
