Task List

Part A - Reformat Church Records Section

Step One - Sign Up

  • Go to the task list to sign your name to a parish on the list and click on the parish link to get to the Wiki page.



Step Two - Click Church Records in the Contents

  • In the contents of the parish page, select Church Records under "Collections." Or scroll down to the Church Records header.



Step Three - Click Edit Source next to Church Records

  • Click Edit Source next to Church Records.



Step Four - Review Church Records Text

  • Review the data directly below the Church Records header to make some adjustments to the information displayed.


  • You may see something like:


Original church records are held in the local municipal archive or civil registration office. Microfilm copies are available at the [https://www.gr.ch/EN/institutions/administration/ekud/afk/sag/Seiten/start.aspx Graubünden State Archives].
Digital images of church records are available on FamilySearch. These records have a restriction for use only at a [https://www.familysearch.org/centers/locations/ '''FamilySearch center'''] near you.


  • Leave in the sentences regarding the Graubünden State Archives. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.


  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.


Step Five - Review the header, Reformed

  • Review both the Reformed header to see what should be removed from the section. We are only removing standard sentences. We are NOT removing unique information about church records in the parish.


Example:

The parish of Trin became Reformed in 1535. Church records begin in 1666. The following volumes are available on FamilySearch:
*[https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C39L-QG34 Baptisms, marriages, burials 1666-1802]


  • Leave in the sentences that includes information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for when the church records begin. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.


  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.


  • Leave in the FamilySearch database link for now. We will be reformatting the link next. In the example above, the database link to keep is in black. Keep all FamilySearch database links listed on the Wiki page.


  • If there are no database links on the page, go to Step Six.

Step Six - Reformat the FamilySearch Link

  • If there is a FamilySearch link in the section, reformat it to the examples below depending on the type of url provided:


Old Version of "Ark" in the URL:

*[https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C39L-QG34 Baptisms, marriages, burials 1666-1802]


New Version of "Ark" in the URL:

  • If there is no "ark" in the URL, make a note on the task list and do not reformat the link.


  • In summary, you will be doing the following to the link:
  • Add bold date span to front of link
  • Capitalize the title in the link
  • Add "(*) at FamilySearch Catalog - images" directly behind the link


Step Seven - Review the header, Catholic

  • Review both the Catholic header to see what should be removed from the section. We are only removing standard sentences. We are NOT removing unique information about church records in the parish.


Example:

Records begin in 1738. The following volumes are only available on microfilm at the [https://www.gr.ch/EN/institutions/administration/ekud/afk/sag/Seiten/start.aspx Graubünden State Archives]:
*Baptisms, confirmations, marriages, burials 1738-1837
*Baptisms, confirmations, marriages, burials 1838-1875
  • Leave in the sentences that includes information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for when the church records begin. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.


  • Remove the sentences regarding the archive and microfilm. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.


  • Leave in the archive microfilm link for now. We will be reformatting the link next. In the example above, the database link to keep is in black. Keep all archive microfilm links listed on the Wiki page.


  • If there are no Graubünden State Archives database links on the page, go to Step Eight.

Step Eight - Reformat the FamilySearch Link

  • If there is a Graubünden State Archives link in the section, reformat it to the examples below:


Original Example Archive Link:

New Version of Archive Link:

  • In summary, you will be doing the following to the link:
  • Add bold date span to front of link
  • Capitalize the title in the link
  • ADD A LINK TO THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ORDER MICROFILM TO THE TITLE IF IT STATES IT WAS ON MICROFILM
  • ADD NAME OF ARCHIVE AND images (microfilm) to the link


Step Nine - Check the Databases and Save the Page

  • Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.



  • Enter in the Summary and click Save changes:

Part B - Reformat Census Section

Step One - Click Census in the Contents

Step Three - Review Census Text

  • Review the data directly below the Census header to make some adjustments to the information displayed.


  • You may see something like:

Step Four - Replace "See..." Statement

  • Remove the "See..." statement on the page.


  • Paste the following wikitext directly under the Census header.

Step Five - Reformat the FamilySearch Databases

  • If there are FamilySearch databases listed on the page, reformat them to fit the correct Manual of Style using the example below.

Step One - Click Civil Registration in the Contents

  • In the contents of the parish page, select Civil Registration under "Collections." Or scroll down to the Civil Registration header.



Step Two - Click Edit Source next to Civil Registration

  • Click Edit Source next to Civil Registration.



Step Three - Review Civil Registration Text

  • You may see something like:


 Civil registration began in 1876.
