Task List[edit | edit source]

Part A - Reformat FamilySearch Links[edit | edit source]

Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]

  • Go to the task list to sign your name to a parish on the list and click on the parish link to get to the Wiki page.



Step Two - Click Church Records in the Contents[edit | edit source]

  • In the contents of the parish page, select Church Records under "Collections." Or scroll down to the Church Records header.



Step Three - Click Edit Source next to Church Records[edit | edit source]

  • Click Edit Source next to Church Records.



Step Four - Review Church Records Text[edit | edit source]

  • Directly below the Church Records header, you will see something like:


Original church records are held in the local municipal archive or civil registration office. Microfilm copies are available at the [https://www.gr.ch/EN/institutions/administration/ekud/afk/sag/Seiten/start.aspx Graubünden State Archives].
Digital images of church records are available on FamilySearch. These records have a restriction for use only at a [https://www.familysearch.org/centers/locations/ '''FamilySearch center'''] near you.


  • Leave in the sentences regarding the Graubünden State Archives. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.


  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.


Step Five - Review the headers, Reformed and Catholic[edit | edit source]

  • Review both the Reformed and Catholic headers to see what should be removed from the section. We are only removing standard sentences. We are NOT removing unique information about church records in the parish.


Example:

The parish of Trin became Reformed in 1535. Church records begin in 1666. The following volumes are available on FamilySearch:

  • Leave in the sentences that includes information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for when the church records begin. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.


  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.


  • We are leaving in any information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for church records.


  • However, if the page has the following phrase (or anything similar to it), please remove it from the page:
The following volumes are available on FamilySearch:


  • If there is no phrase referring to FamilySearch, go to Step Five.

Step Five - Remove Standard FamilySearch Pr[edit | edit source]

Step Five - Reformat the FamilySearch Link[edit | edit source]

  • If there is a FamilySearch link in the section, reformat it to the examples below depending on the type of url provided:


"Ark" in the URL:

  • Note: Most of these links have an "ark" in the url. If the "ark" is there, we will say FamilySearch Catalog, even though the link is going to an actual image. If the link

Part B - Remove Generic FamilySearch Statement[edit | edit source]

Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]

  • Go to the task list and sign your name to a town in a county in Massachusetts on the list: task list



Step Two - Click the Link[edit | edit source]

  • Using the links on the task list, click the town to open the Wiki page.



Step Three - Click Births in the Contents[edit | edit source]

  • In the contents, select Births. Or, scroll down to the Births header.



Step Four - Click Edit Source next to Births[edit | edit source]

  • Click Edit Source next to Births.



Step Five - Copy and Paste the Database[edit | edit source]

  • Copy the following code and paste it in chronological order by date with the other databases listed.

Exceptions:

  • If the link is already on the page, replace it with this new link to make it match the new manual of style. Do not worry about other entries on the page that are not in accordance with the manual of style.
  • If there are no other entries with dates, put this as the first bullet.

Step Six - Check the Database and Save the Page[edit | edit source]

  • Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.



  • Enter in the Summary and click Save changes:

Part C - Reformat Archive Link[edit | edit source]

This Lincoln County database covers other counties in Maine. We are adding it to the applicable counties and their town pages found on the task list.

Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]

  • Go to the task list and sign your name to a town in a county in Maine on the list: task list



Step Two - Click the Link[edit | edit source]

  • Using the links on the task list, click the town to open the Wiki page.



Step Three - Click Marriages in the Contents[edit | edit source]

  • In the contents, select Marriages. Or, scroll down to the Marriages header.



Step Four - Click Edit Source next to Marriages[edit | edit source]

  • Click Edit Source next to Marriages.



Step Five - Copy and Paste the Database[edit | edit source]

  • Copy the following code and paste it in chronological order by date with the other databases listed.
