Directories of heads of households have been published for major cities in Mississippi. For example, the Family History Library has 1860 city directories for Vicksburg. (Family History Library book 976.226/N1 E4p; 1860, 1906-1935; Family History Library films 1841749-; fiche 6044616 for 1860). Local historical societies and public and university libraries usually have collections of city directories.
