LEGACY PLANNING - WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR RESEARCH AFTER YOU ARE GONE? - Wednesday, January 18, 1P-3P - We are delighted to welcome genealogist and speaker Patricia Burrow.
WEDNESDAY, November 16, 6:30 PM - BUBBIE, WHO ARE YOU?: FINDING THE MAIDEN NAMES IN YOUR FAMILY TREE - Instructor, Professional Genealogist Janice Sellers - Female relatives can be difficult to trace, but they can be found. This class introduces resources for tracing the women in your family, including family items, oral histories, federal and state census records, immigration records, vital records, religious records, journals, newspapers, legal and court records, library archives, and manuscript collections. This presentation is in honor of International Jewish Genealogy Month.
Legacy Planning usually refers to your will, trusts and medical directives. Have you thought about what is going to happen to your family history research? Those file cabinets, folders, binders and archival boxes full of memorabilia? Do your children know what to do with it all? Do they know where your family history database is on your computer? The Filename? We all know that, if it looks "important", it has a better chance of avoiding the dumpster cut. Let's talk about some of the things we can do to ensure that those hard found stories do not get lost again and family history research is preserved for future generations.
