Parish History[edit | edit source]
TWICKENHAM, a village and a parish in Brentford district, Middlesex. The village stands on the river Thames, and on the London and Windsor railway, 1 mile SW of Richmond; was anciently called Twitnam and Twittnaham. There are two churches, three dissenting chapels. The parish contains also The-Green, Whitton village, and a new suburb of Richmond.[1]

Holy Trinity Church [Old] Twickenham Common, which is now known as "The Green" is situated on Twickenham Green, at the heart of the St Mary's ancient parish. It was established by the year 1841 and lay within the civil parish boundaries of St Mary's Twickenham.
