Historical Background of Middlesex's Parishes
Click here to read a description of some of the parishes in the old County of Middlesex as well as especially the City of London's environs in James Elmes', Topographical Dictionary of London (published in 1831). Those parishes listed may be found under the name of the patron saint to which it was dedicated, i.e. St George (Hanover Square), will be listed under the "G" section under "George (St.) Hanover Sq", or, St Luke Finsbury will be listed under the "F" section under "Finsbury", and St Andrew Holborn, under the "H" section under "Holborn" and so on.

Parishes
The ancient county of Middlesex was discontinued in 1888 and replaced by "London County"
(administered by the London County Council), encorporating the whole metropolis which includes the City of London and parishes in the old former county of Middlesex.
However, for historical context and for family history research purposes, this Middlesex County section strictly applies to all those parishes and their respective chapelies and district churches which pre-date 1888, that resided outside of the walls of London City (proper).
To view a list of Middlesex County (sometimes referred to as Greater London) parishes and some of their chapelries and district churches, view the county of Middlesex Parishes[1] page. While the list of Middlesex parishes page is not at this time complete, please make especial note of those places listed on the Middlesex Parishes page that have an asterisk (*) next to it. These indicate each as an ancient parish amd in each case most parish pages have a link, or, list outright, a more complete and comprehensive list of chapelries, ancient chapels and the more modern district churches attached it. For example, the parish of Bethnal Green indicates there are fifteen chapels in the "Middlesex Parishes" page, but when you visit the ancient parish page, there actually
