Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 1st Regiment, Ohio Calvary mustered in August 17-October 30, 1861 at Camp Chase, Ohio. It mustered out September 13, 1865 at Georgia and South Carolina.[1]

Company A - also known as "Pope's Escort" - many men from Fayette County.
Company B - also known as "Laughlin's Cavalry" - many men from Guernsey County and Muskingum County.
Company C - also known as "Pope's Escort" and "Shield's Body Guard" - many men from Hamilton County, Highland County and Pickaway County.
Company D - many men from Licking County and Union County.
Company E - many men from Gallia County and Pickaway County.
