Connecticut in the Civil War

Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 3rd Regiment, Connecticut Infantry was organized at New Haven.  They mustered in May 14, 1861.  On the 12th day of August, 1864 this regiment was mustered out of service at Hartford.

Infantry Company A was largely formed by men from Fairfield County.  It was mustered into service May 14, 1861. 

Infantry Company B was largely formed by men from New Haven County.  It was mustered into service May 11, 1861.
