County Information

Description

Fairfield County was created on 10 May 1666[1] and named for the hundreds of acres of salt marsh that bordered the coast.[2] The counties in Connecticut do not have county seats.The cities and towns are responsible for all local governmental activities.[3] It is located in the southwestern corner of the state.

County Courthouse
