# Prepare before coming to the Center. Remove photographs from albums and any sticky tabs if necessary. If older pictures are mounted on cardboard, they can be scanned separately on the flatbed.
# Pictures should be sorted by size and direction. They must be fed into the scanner in groups of the same size thus avoiding jamming the scanner.  The photos are inserted into the scanner face-up with the top of the photo inserted upside down. The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. The person using this equipment is liable for any infringement.

Before your visit:

1. Remove photographs from albums and any sticky tabs if necessary. If older pictures are mounted on cardboard, they can be scanned separately on the flatbed scanner.

2. Pictures should be sorted by size and direction. They must be fed into the scanner in groups of the same size to avoid jamming the scanner. The photos are inserted into the scanner face-up with the top of the photo at the bottom. After sorting by size, sort again by direction. In order to save time, it is best if portrait-oriented pictures are separated from landscape-oriented ones.

3. The batch scanners are capable of scanning both sides of a photo or document simultaneously. It is suggested that photos or documents with content on both sides be separated out into their own group.

4. A flash drive is needed for storing the digitized images created. It is recommended that a 16GB or larger flash drive be dedicated just for scanning documents and photos.

5. The Kodak software allows you to restore, crop, and separate sheets of pictures into individual pictures.

6. Trained staff are always available to help patrons use the scanners.

Please plan on the last 10 minutes of your reserved time to save your photos. Be sure you finish up on time so that the person following you can have their full time.
