'GODSTONE St Nicholas, a parish, and the head of a union, in the First division of the hundred of Tandridge, E. division of Surrey, 19 miles south from London.

'Another chapel was also erected in this parish, in 1787, as well in the populous district of Blindley Heath a church was erected by 1842, dedicated to St John the Evangelist.'[1]
