Brief History[edit | edit source]
19th Infantry Regiment, organized at Huntsville, Alabama, in August, 1861, contained men from Blount, Cherokee, Pickens, Coosa, Chilton, and Jefferson counties. Only 76 men were present when it surrendered.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

- Company A (Pickens Rough and Readys) - many men from Pickens County
- Company B (Blount Continentals) - many men from Blount County
- Company C (Jefferson Warriors) - many men from Jefferson County
- Company D (Jake Curry Guards) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company E (Cherokee Guards) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company F (Davis Guards) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company G (Cherokee Mountaineers) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company H (Cherokees) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company I (Cherokee Rangers) - many men from Cherokee County
- Company K (Blount Guards) - many men from Blount County
