Description[edit | edit source]
Blount County was created on 6 February 1818 and named for Governor Willie G. Blount of Tennessee, who provided assistance to settlers in Alabama during the Creek War of 1813-14.[2]. Its county seat is Oneonta[3]. It is located in the north-central area of the state.[4]
