Purpose[edit | edit source]

Reformat collection links Graubünden Switzerland Parishes

Video Instructions[edit | edit source]

[ Video Instructions]

Task List[edit | edit source]

Part A - Reformat Church Records Section[edit | edit source]

Step One - Sign Up[edit | edit source]

  • Go to the task list to sign your name to a parish on the list and click on the parish link to get to the Wiki page.

Step Two - Click Church Records in the Contents[edit | edit source]

  • In the contents of the parish page, select Church Records under "Collections." Or scroll down to the Church Records header.

Step Three - Click Edit Source next to Church Records[edit | edit source]

  • Click Edit Source next to Church Records.

Step Four - Review Church Records Text[edit | edit source]

  • Review the data directly below the Church Records header to make some adjustments to the information displayed.

  • You may see something like:

Original church records are held in the local municipal archive or civil registration office. Microfilm copies are available at the [https://www.gr.ch/EN/institutions/administration/ekud/afk/sag/Seiten/start.aspx Graubünden State Archives].
Digital images of church records are available on FamilySearch. These records have a restriction for use only at a [https://www.familysearch.org/centers/locations/ '''FamilySearch center'''] near you.

  • Leave in the sentences regarding the Graubünden State Archives. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.

  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.

Step Five - Review the header, Reformed[edit | edit source]

  • Review both the Reformed header to see what should be removed from the section. We are only removing standard sentences. We are NOT removing unique information about church records in the parish.

Example:

The parish of Trin became Reformed in 1535. Church records begin in 1666. The following volumes are available on FamilySearch:
*[https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C39L-QG34 Baptisms, marriages, burials 1666-1802]

  • Leave in the sentences that includes information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for when the church records begin. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.

  • Remove the sentences regarding FamilySearch. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.

  • Leave in the FamilySearch database link for now. We will be reformatting the link next. In the example above, the database link to keep is in black. Keep all FamilySearch database links listed on the Wiki page.

  • If there are no database links on the page, go to Step Six.

Step Six - Review the header, Catholic[edit | edit source]

  • Review both the Catholic header to see what should be removed from the section. We are only removing standard sentences. We are NOT removing unique information about church records in the parish.

Example:

Records begin in 1738. The following volumes are only available on microfilm at the [https://www.gr.ch/EN/institutions/administration/ekud/afk/sag/Seiten/start.aspx Graubünden State Archives]:
  • Baptisms, confirmations, marriages, burials 1738-1837
  • Baptisms, confirmations, marriages, burials 1838-1875
  • Leave in the sentences that includes information that is unique to the parish, such as the dates for when the church records begin. In the example above, the sentences to keep are in blue.

  • Remove the sentences regarding the archive and microfilm. In the example above, the sentences to remove are in red.

  • Leave in the FamilySearch database link for now. We will be reformatting the link next. In the example above, the database link to keep is in black. Keep all FamilySearch database links listed on the Wiki page.
