Introduction[edit | edit source]

During the War of 1812, Vermont furnished 4,853 infantry men, 243 cavalry men, and 140 artillery men for a total of 5,236 men.[1]

Service Records[edit | edit source]

  • Roster of Soldiers (from Vermont) in the War of 1812-14 is a digital book on FamilySearch.org that contains a roster of servicemen from Vermont during the War of 1812. This source lists each Vermont soldier’s name, unit, dates of service, and source of the information. Some entries give residence and rank, widow’s first name, and the pension certificate number. It is arranged alphabetically by last name and can be searched through with exact spelling.
  • War of 1812 Service Records. ($) This Ancestry.com database gives name, company, rank at time of induction and at time of discharge of men mustered into the armed forces between 1812 and 1825.
