Porthmadog lies on the northern shores of Cardigan Bay on the west coast of the United Kingdom. It has a long maritime history going back to the days when the district was remote and transport was easier by sea. The museum, situated in the last remaining slate shed on the harbour, has a large collection of artefacts depicting the seafaring activities of the area – the development of the port, the shipbuilding, the ships, and the lives of the seafarers.
