Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 12th Regiment, Ohio Cavalry mustered in November 24, 1863 at Cleveland, Ohio. They were mustered out November 14, 1865. [1]

Company G - Raised in Ottawa County, Defiance County, Allen County, Putnam County, and Richland County,[2] also had many men from Hancock County[3]
Company H - Raised in Guernsey County and Harrison County[2]
Company I - Raised in Erie County and Tuscarawas County[2]
Company K - Raised in Shelby County, Miami County, and Montgomery County[2]
Company L - Raised in Vinton County and Highland County[2]
Company M - Raised mostly in Fairfield County[2]
