*Britain defined its area of interest in the Solomon Islands archipelago in June 1893, and declared the southern Solomon Islands a British protectorate.
*The official name of the then-British administration was '''changed from the British Solomon Islands Protectorate''' to the Solomon Islands in 1975, and self-government was achieved the following year. Independence was obtained, and the name changed to just "Solomon Islands" (without the definite article), in 1978.<ref>"Solomon Islands", in Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon_Islands, accessed 9 August 221.</ref>

Solomon Islands Emigration and Immigration[edit | edit source]

"Emigration" means moving out of a country. "Immigration" means moving into a country.
Emigration and immigration sources list the names of people leaving (emigrating) or arriving (immigrating) in the country. These sources may be passenger lists, permissions to emigrate, or records of passports issued. The information in these records may include the emigrants’ names, ages, occupations, destinations, and places of origin or birthplaces. Sometimes they also show family groups.
