MISSON, a parish, in the union of Doncaster, Hatfield division of the wapentake of Bassetlaw, N. division of the county of Nottingham, 2¾ miles (E. N. E.) from Bawtry with the hamlet of Newington. There is a place of worship for Wesleyans.[1]

Misson St John the Baptist is an Ancient Parish which included Newington and part of the parish boundary forms the county boundary with neighbouring Wroot, Lincolnshire and Haxey, Lincolnshire.
