Directions, map, parking, and public transportation: Via I-95 Northbound: Exit 27(Lafayette Blvd. Downtown) – Keep to the right through three traffic lights. Turn left at the 4th light (Broad Street), going under I-95. Library is at the end of the block on the corner of Broad and State Streets.Via I-95 Southbound: Exit 27, turn right onto Lafayette Blvd. At 3rd traffic light, turn right onto State Street. At light, turn right onto Broad Street. Library is on the corner of State and Broad Streets. Via Merritt Parkway: Exit 47 (Park Ave.) South to State Street. Take a left onto State Street at the YMCA. Three traffic lights to Broad Street. Take a right. Library is on the corner of State and Broad Streets.Via Route 8/25 Southbound: Exit 2 (Fairfield Ave.) Straight until you can go no further. This is State Street. Take a left onto State Street. Two traffic lights to Broad Street and take a right. Library is on the corner of State and Broad Streets. Google Map: Brideport Public Library. Parking is on Broad Street and all side streets at metered spaces (bring quarters). After 4 PM on week days and on Saturdays and Sundays, parking is free. There are two commercial parking garages near the library, both with entrances on John Street, one to the East of Broad Street and one to the West. There is also a small lot directly across the street from the Library that is available to Library patrons after 4 PM and on weekends. Public transportation: The Burroughs-Saden Library sits directly on the “Coastal Line #2” bus route and is close to several other GBTA bus lines. The Metro-North/Amtrack train station is just two blocks to the East of the library. The Ferry from Port Jefferson, L.I., is also just a few blocks away. Collection Description The Bridgeport History Center at the main library is one of the largest repositories for genealogy research in the region. It includes articles on Bridgeport topics, digital collections, genealogy workshops, newspaper archives, oral histories, getting started guides, charts and forms, and links to dozens of genealogical Internet sites. Bridgeport Public Library is also a Family History Center, and can order microfilms and microfiche from the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
