Units 1st through 5th[edit | edit source]

Units 6th through 11th[edit | edit source]

  • 7th Battalion, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    7th Infantry Battalion [also called St.Paul's Foot Rifles] was organized before the war and entered Confederate service during the summer of 1861.The four serving in the West disbanded during August, 1862.
  • 7th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    7th Infantry Regiment [also called the Pelican Regiment] was organized in May, 1861, and entered Confederate service at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in June. It surrendered with no officers and 42 men.
  • 9th Battalion, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)|9th Battalion, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)]
    9th Infantry Battalion [also called 17th Battalion] was formed at Camp Moore, Louisiana, during March, 1862.The unit was captured in the fight for Port Hudson. After being exchanged, it was not reorganized.
  • 11th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    11th Infantry Regiment was organized at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in July, 1861. Many of its members were transferred to the 13th and 20th Louisiana Infantry Regiments, and the 14th (Austin's) Louisiana Battalion Sharpshooters.

Units 12th through 18th[edit | edit source]

  • 13th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry
    13th Infantry Regiment completed its organization in August, 1861, at Camp Moore,Louisiana. Surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
  • 15th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    15th Infantry Regiment [also called 2nd Regiment Polish Brigade] was organized near Richmond, Virginia, in July, 1862, by consolidating the 3rd and part of the 7th Louisiana Infantry Battalions. When the unit surrendered, only 2 officers and 17 men were present.

Units 19th through 27th[edit | edit source]

  • 19th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    19th Infantry Regiment completed its organization in October, 1861, at Camp Moore, Louisiana. It had 201 fit for duty in November, 1864 and surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
  • 20th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    20th Infantry Regiment [often times called the Lovell Regiment] was assembled and mustered into Confederate service at Camp Lewis, Louisiana, in February, 1862. The 20th had 59 effectives in November, 1864 and surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.
  • 25th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    25th Infantry Regiment was organized in April, 1862.  In November, 1864, the 25th had 82 effectives present for duty and surrendered with the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana.

Units 28th through 36th[edit | edit source]

  • 28th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Thomas')(Confederate)
    29th Infantry Regiment [also called 28th Regiment] was organized during the early spring of 1862 as a battalion, then in May was increased to regimental strength. It participated in various engagements in Louisiana and disbanded in the spring of 1865.

  • 31st Regiment, Louisiana Infantry (Confederate)
    31st Infantry Regiment [including Morrison's 6th Louisiana Infantry Battalion] was organized at Vicksburg, Mississippi, during the early summer of 1862.  During the spring of 1865 it disbanded.
