Louisiana Information[edit | edit source]
Louisiana became the 18th state to join the United States on April 30, 1812. Louisiana was located in the southern region of the United States.[1] Louisiana was formed from the Territory of Orleans. The U.S. state of Louisiana is divided into 64 parishes (French: paroisses) in the same way that 48 other states of the United States are divided into counties. The State Capital is Baton Rouge.[2] See Louisiana History for more information.
