Article description: (description) This attribute controls the content of the description and og:description elements. | During the Middle Ages, land ownership was concentrated in the hands of the nobility and the Church, with peasants holding land under various forms of tenancy. In the 16th century, the Swedish Crown introduced a system of hereditary landownership, which granted peasants the right to own and inherit their land. However, this system was not fully implemented until the 19th century, when a series of land reforms abolished the remaining forms of serfdom and tenancy. |
