Description[edit | edit source]
Yakutat Borough was formed from the Skagway-Yakutat-Angoon Census Area on September 22, 1992. The Borough was named after the Tlingit, Yaakwdáat ("the place where canoes rest") but it originally derives from an Eyak name diyaʼqudaʼt and was influenced by the Tlingit word yaakw ("canoe, boat"). The Borough has Yakutat as its seat. It is located in the southeastern part of the state.[1]

Vital Records[edit | edit source]
Vital Records consist of births, adoptions, marriages, divorces, and deaths recorded by officials on registers, certificates, and documents. The Bureau of Vital Statistics has records of birth (1913-), death (1913-), and marriages (1890's-), although many vital records before 1930 were not registered. They have divorce records since 1950.
