Indexes[edit | edit source]

Some newspapers have been published in Alaska, and a few indexes have been compiled. Major research centers have indexes to early papers from Fairbanks, Seward, and Petersburg. The FamilySearch Library has not collected Alaskan newspapers. The library has The Anchorage Times Obituaries Index, 1915-1980 (FamilySearch Library fiche 6331408-9).

The Alaska State Library has created the Alaska Newspapers Index. Currently there are 209002 files in the database covering numerous newspapers.

For Fairbanks newspapers see:Index of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces in Fairbanks, Alaska Newspapers, 1903-1930, by Fairbanks Genealogical Society.
