Adding a unique newspaper link from Ancestry to each state's county pages

Instructions

Step One - Sign Up

Go to the task list and sign your name on Row 2 right above the state name you have chosen. You will be editing all the counties for the state you signed up for.

Step Two - Edit the "Newspapers" Header

Click on the link for the first county you are working on the task list and it will open the Wiki page.

On the county Wiki page, click on "Newspapers" in the Table of Contents or scroll down the page to the "Newspapers" header.

Click on "Edit source" next to "Newspapers header.

Step Three - Use Project Instructions Wiki Page Table of Contents

Go back to the tab for the Project Instructions and go to the top of the page to view the table of contents for the project instructions page (seen above).

Click on the header in the table of contents for the state you are working on. It will bring you down the page to the instructions for that state. Or, you can scroll down the page to the state's header.

Step Four - Copy the Wikitext for the Link

Read the special instructions for the state noting where you will be putting the link you copy on to the Wiki page in the "Newspapers" header.

Copy the wikitext for the collection database link found under the header for your state.

Step Five - Paste the Link on the County Page

Go back to the tab with the county Wiki page you are working on.

From what you read in the instructions, put the collection database link in the appropriate place on the page.

Exceptions:

If the link is already on the page, replace it with this new collection database link to make it match the new manual of style. Do not worry about other entries on the page that are not in accordance with the manual of style.

Step Six - Check the Database and Save the Page

Click Show Preview to make sure it looks good and the link works.

Enter the wikitext listed below into the Summary field and click, "Save changes":

Step Seven - Go to the Next County

Once you have saved the page, return to the task list and put the date next to the county you just worked on.

Go to the next county on the list and repeat the process.

Step Eight - Sign Up for a New State

When you have finished editing all the counties for that state, sign up for a new state on the task list and repeat the process.
