Two types of Welsh poetry contain helpful information for family historians.
Two main categories[edit | edit source]
- Eulogies: composed during the life of the person being praised.
- Elegy: composed after the death of the person being commemorated.
Composed in strict metre up to the 17th century and in free metre from the eighteenth century.
