Archaeological finds suggest the area was inhabited in prehistoric times. The current inhabited center likely developed during the High Middle Ages.

- The construction of the Naviglio Bresciano in the 15th century significantly boosted the town's development, allowing for the establishment of mills and forges.

- During the Second World War, the area was subjected to Allied bombings due to its proximity to the territories of the Italian Social Republic (RSI).
