The area was already inhabited in the Nuragic era, as evidenced by the presence of several nuraghes in the territory.

  • Middle Ages: Giudicato of Arborea, curatoria of Marmilla.
  • 1420: Passed under Aragonese rule.
  • Later: Incontrada of Marmilla, fief of the Carroz counts of Quirra.
  • 1603: Marquisate of Quirra, fief of the Centelles.
  • Later: Osorio de la Cueva.
