Neolithic, Nuragic, and Roman eras: The area was inhabited during the Neolithic, Nuragic, and Roman eras, evidenced by megalithic structures and Roman tombs. The current town originated with the discovery of a statue of Sant'Antonio Abate during the early 18th century.
